    a) The protagonist of this book is Queen Isabella II of Spain.
    b) Her husband was Francisco de Asís de Borbón, Duke of Cádiz.
    c) Isabella had many lovers. We can name, for example, Captain José María Arana ("El pollo Arana"), general O'Donnell, captain of engineers Enrique Puig Moltó (biological father of Alfonso XII of Spain), singer José Mirall and general Serrano (first official lover).
    d) Pope Pius IX said of Isabella II: "Es puta, pero pía".
    e) Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer wrote a book with his brother, Valerio Domínguez, entitled, "Los Borbones en Pelota". On it, Francisco de Asís de Borbón was called as "El rey consorte, primer pajillero de la Corte".
    f) Sor Patrocinio (also known as "the nun of the wounds") was a nun born in San Clemente (Cuenca) who had a lot of influence in the marriage of Isabella II of Spain and Francisco de Asís de Borbón. Among other things, she helped María Cristina de Borbón (Isabella's mother) pushing the Queen to marry Francisco.
